The Launderettes are five fabulous girls who play raw 60`s garage
punk. They found each other in Oslo, Norway, through their common
passion for fuzz, farfisa and frenzy.
During the last two years The Launderettes have played more than
50 concerts in Norway and abroad. They have shared memorable experiences
touring smaller and bigger places in Europe. Life on the road has
brought them closer together as friends and musicians.
Two singles were released in 2000. "Rebel love" was released on
the Norwegian label Sneakers Records and "I wanna jump your bones"
on the German label Thunderbaby Records. Anders Møller and Knut
Schreiner, from Euroboys and Turbonegro, produced both singles.
Today the singles are completely sold out, and already considered
to be collector's items. The Launderettes are also appearing on
several compilations like "Riot on the Rocks", "Stiff Nipples" and
"A fist full of Rock'n'roll".
The Launderettes recorded the single "Live at Tiki's" live in glorious
mono on their 2000 Belgium tour, and released it on their own exclusive
label Launderama Records.
In addition to having a wonderful time touring Scandinavia with
Thee Ultra Bimboos (FIN), Branded Women (FIN) and Voladoras (SE)
in May/June 2001, the tour resulted in a split EP released on Low
Impact.
Inspired by many happy memories from touring, The Launderettes
locked themselves up in Hangaroundsounds Studio for a week in November
2001. Together with sound technician Don Dons, they worked days
and nights and recorded 10 songs. Surrounded by dimmed red lights,
they found the right mood. The album "Shaken and disturbed" was
released on Big Dipper Records in May 2002. The record was out of
print after only two months in the record stores. The audience was
still craving for more, so the record company had to make a second
print of the record.
May 2003 the band went back into the studio, to do some new recordings.
This time with Anders Møller and Marius Bodin Larsen at Crystal
Canyon. After three intense days, the band proudly could present
four brand new, fuzzy songs, ready for printing. The EP "Take me
to the race" and a smashing new video will be released in the end
of May on Big Dipper Records.
